Taxonomic Remarks

This is a relatively large, robust, and ochrous species, with pleonites having well-developed sternal processes, a pleotelson about as long as pleonites 2–5, a cheliped dactylus with a weak ventral apophysis, the pereopods 1–3 propodus inferior margin distinctly spinulate, the uropods shorter than the pleotelson, and a unisegmented uropod endopod.

A single robust abyssal Tanaella specimen, contrasting with the smaller and more gracile T. eumekes found at shallower depths.
