Taxonomic Remarks
Heteroserolis MoV7429 is immediately recognised by the strongly oblique distal margin of the uropodal exopod. While the female is covered with dorsal tubercles, in the male and juveniles these are confined mostly to pleonites 2 and 3 where the tubercles appear as U-shaped parallel longitudinal ridges. The rostrum is unusually broad, almost waisted. Interim diagnosis. Based on female and male. Female 1.55 times as long as wide; male 1.34 times as long as wide. Body dorsally not setose. Head with 1 prominent posterior tubercle; pereonites 1, 2 with medial tubercle, pereonites 3, 4, pleonites 1–3 each with medial tubercle (pleonite 2 larger than others), all larger in female; pereonites 1–6 tuberculate in female; pleonites 1–3, especially 2, 3 tuberculate in female; pereonites 1–6 smooth in male; pleonites 1–3, especially 2, 3 with dorso-sublateral sculpture in form of U-shaped short longitudinal ridges in male, all smaller than in female. Pereonite 1 strongly tapering anteriorly. Coxal dorsal plates 1–6 marginally contiguous, widest at coxae 4; coxal dorsal plates 2–4 delimited from pereonite tergites by non-articulating suture; plate 6 not overlapping pleonal epimeron 2. Male coxal ventral plates 2–4 meeting mesially, fourth with medial ridge; coxal ventral plates 5, 6 serially fused, together with medial ventral projection comprising adjacent narrow ends of plate 5 anterior to pair of gonopores on ventral projection. Pleonites 2, 3 epimera margins squarish in dorsal view. Pleotelson parallel-sided over anterior one-quarter, triangular beyond; 0.73 times as long as wide; with median ridge over most of length, with pair of sublateral tubercles about halfway along, with scattered lateral and posterior tubercles; apex truncate. Pleonite 1 sternite with prominent grooved keel reaching middle of smaller keel on pleonite 2; pleonite 2 keel overlapping pleonite 3 keel; pleonite 3 with grooved keel shorter than that on pleonite 2. Uropod attaching at about one-quarter length of pleotelson lateral margin; endopod reaching almost to pleotelson apex, tapering to rounded apex; exopod two-thirds as long as endopod, as wide distally as endopod, with crenellate oblique distal margin.
