Taxonomic Remarks

This species is closest to Chimaera obscura from eastern Australia but the ND2 sequences are highly divergent from the types of C. obscura. This species is much larger than C. obscura. Morphological characters are poorly defined in this group so detailed comparison with the type specimens of C. obscura are required.
