Taxonomic Remarks
The genus Ampelisca comprises a large, cosmopolitan taxon of Amphilochidean amphipods, that currently includes more than 240 species. The examined material corresponds to a large-sized species with conspicuous diagnostic features that readily distinguish it as undescribed, despite the absence of a recent comprehensive revision of the genus. Some of the characters observed in the studied individuals are not present in any other species of the genus, such as the well-developed anterodistal lobe of the basis of pereopod 7 and the concave margin of posterior lobe of the basis of pereopod 7.

Description of Material
Eyes not discernible; head length as long as the first two pereonites; rostral area as projected as the lateral cephalic lobe; ventrolateral margin slightly convex. First peduncular article of antenna 1 approximately 0.51× the head length (about half the length of the head). Basis of pereopod 5 with an elongated anterodistal lobe. Posterior lobe in the basis of pereopod 7 with a concavity. Epimeron 3 with a small triangular tooth at the posterodistal angle. Urosomite 3 dorsally convex, relatively flat. Uropod 3 rami foliaceous, broadly lanceolate and relatively short. Telson subquadrate, distally truncated, with a diagonal row of dorsolateral setae.
