Taxonomic Remarks

This NZ taxon is very similar to most other Tanaella species, and a morphological analysis actually shows it to be closest to the type species, T. unguicillata from the NE Atlantic. It differs, at least, in body segment proportions, lacks an apophysis on the cheliped dactylus and lacks denticulations of the proximal part of the cheliped fixed finger. A manuscript on the NZ Tanaellidae nearing completion describes this as a new species,.
