Taxonomic Remarks

The small cap-like uropod exopod is one character separating it from Tanaella s.s. but also the much shorter antennular article-2 (elongate in Tanaella). This taxon is being given a new genus in manuscript on the NZ Tanaellidae nearing completion

Description of Material

A small robust tanaellid, often with a sightly ochrous cuticle. Very easy to confuse with the sympatric Tanaella eumekes n. sp. but this species has a very small projecting (fused) uropod exopod.

Ecology

Benthic sediments, probably a shallow burrower.

Bounty Trough, 775-1066 m, TAN2402 Stns 11, 23, 25, 31, 35, 37. Also from the Bay of Plenty to the Chatham Rise, 525-1124 m
