Taxonomic Remarks

This taxon is similar to some other Tanaella species with forcipate uropods such as T. forcifera and T. kommritzia, but a morphological analysis shows it to be distinct. These and some other Tanaella species are moved to a new genus in a manuscript on NZ tanaellids nearing completion.

Benthic sediments, probably as a shallow burrower.

Bounty Trough, 775-2874 m, TAN2402 Stns 11, 25, 37, 47, 5, 73. Also from the Challenger Plateau, and the Hikurangi Margin to the Great South Basin, 265-2000 m.
