Description of Material

Small (even tiny, 1 mm) and elongate anarthrurids are more commonly encountered in core samples and, for some as yet unexplained reason, sample populations are usually dominated by manca stages. Species determination is very difficult, but this species is easily recognised among its NZ family member by the three distinct teeth on the cheliped fixed finger. Siphonolabrum may its parent genus, but this is a working name for the moment.

Ecology

Benthic species, probably a shallow burrower in soft sediment.

Distribution

Bounty Trough, 1066 m, TAN2402 Stn 31. Also, from the Hikurangi Margin south to the Bounty Trough, 420-2003 m.
