Taxonomic Remarks

The number of species in this genus is increasing and there are several species from the SE Australian Slope awaiting description. Further study is required to pinpoint the identity of NZ#1 as a probably distinct species.

Description of Material

A typical Peraeospinosus, large and with “corrugated” pereonites.

Ecology

Benthic sediments. The genus typically makes large messy silty tubes (burrow-linings) that are used as supplementary brood chambers.
