Taxonomic Remarks

The nearest described species of Forcipatia is F. rotundicauda from the East China Sea, with another from the Gulf of Mexico. A similar species (undescribed) is common in the NE Atlantic. More detailed examination is required to specify morphological differences.

A small compact, typical Forcipatia species very similar to Leptognathia but with a more curved (near-raptorial) cheliped dactylus.

Benthic sediments, possibly as a shallow burrower.
