Taxonomic Remarks

The genus Arhaphuroides has had a complex taxonomic history and Arhaphuroides species are probably confined to A. brevispina (NE Atlantic), A. parabreviremis (Tierra del Fuego) and A. septentrionalis (California). A manuscript on the NZ member of this genus and Araphura is in preparation, and it is possible that this species OC#1 is similar to/conspecific with an undescribed taxon from the SE Australian slope.
