Taxonomic Remarks

Only the male of Serolina MoV7420 is known. It is notable for the five flat lobes along the posterior margin of the head and the two bilobed flat plates on the pleotelson. The pleotelson is as wide as long and the uropodal exopod reaches beyond the endopod. Serolina clarella shares similar dorsal head and pleotelson ornamentation but coxal plates 5 and 6 and pleonal epimera 2 and 3 are not as acute as in this new species, and the uropodal exopod is shorter than the endopod. Interim diagnosis. Male body as long as wide. Head with 5 flat posterior lobes; middorsal crests scarcely visible in lateral view; pereonites 1–6 without sublateral ridges or tubercles, pereonites without submedial tubercles along posterior margins. Coxal dorsal plate margins 1–4 contiguous, plates 4–6 separated by notches; 6 narrow and acute, overlapping pleonal epimeron 3 (male). Pleonal epimera 2 and 3 similar, third longer. Pleotelson 0.8 times as long as wide, with dorsal bilobed shelf-like plate on each side. Uropodal exopod longer than endopod, apex truncate.
