Taxonomic Remarks

Heteroserolis MoV7425 is distinguished from other species in the genus by the concave margin of coxal dorsal plate 6 and the excavate lateral margins of pleonal epimera 2 and 3. Pleonites 2 and 3 of the male have subposterior rows of small tubercles. The ovigerous female is not known. Interim diagnosis. Based on male only. Male 1.3 times as long as wide. Body dorsally not setose. Head with 1 prominent posterior tubercle; pereonites 1–4, pleonites 1–3 each bearing long low median tubercle; pereonites 1–6 smooth, pleonities 2, 3 each with transverse rows of small tubercles; posterior margin of head with tubercle; posterior margins of eyes, pereonites 1–4 each flat, with weak medial tubercle, pleonites 1–3 with tubercle. Pereonite 1 anterolateral margins convex. Coxal dorsal plates 1–6 marginally with small steps between; coxal dorsal plates 2–4 delimited from pereonite tergites by non-articulating suture; plate 6 margin concave, overlapping pleonal epimeron 3. Male coxal ventral plates 2–4 meeting mesially, fourth with medial ridge; coxal ventral plates 5, 6 serially fused, together with medial ventral projection comprising adjacent narrow ends of plate 5 anterior to pair of gonopores on ventral projection. Pleonites 2, 3 epimera margins with apical notch in dorsal view. Pleotelson parallel-sided over anterior one-third, triangular beyond; 0.95 times as long as wide; with median ridge over most of length, with few submedian and sublateral small tubercles; apex truncate. Pleonite 1 with keel just overlapping and slotting into half of keel on pleonite 2; pleonite 2 keel overlapping pleonite 3 keel; pleonite 3 with grooved keel as long as that on pleonite 2. Uropod attaching at about one-third length of pleotelson lateral margin; endopod reaching almost to pleotelson apex, tapering to rounded apex; exopod three-quarters as long as endopod, apex truncate, crenellate.
