Taxonomic Remarks
Heteroserolis MoV7412 is immediately distinguished from other species in the genus by the tunnel-like posterior part of the pleotelson giving the impression that the posterior third of the pleotelson is “pinched” so that lateral depressions are visible. Interim diagnosis. Based on female and male. Female 1.4 times as long as wide; male 1.6 times as long as wide. Body dorsally not setose. Head with 1 low posterior tubercle; pereonites 1–4, pleonites 1–3 each bearing long low median tubercle; pereonites 1–6, pleonities 2, 3 laterally smooth in female; pereon, pleon sculpture similar in both sexes. Pereonite 1 anterolateral margins convex. Coxal dorsal plates 1–6 marginally contiguous; coxal dorsal plates 2–4 delimited from pereonite tergites by non-articulating suture; plate 6 barely overlapping pleonal epimeron 3. Male coxal ventral plates 2–4 meeting mesially, without mesial marginal ridges; coxal ventral plates 5, 6 serially fused, bearing transverse bilobed ridge plus second bilobed transverse ridge bearing 2 gonopores. Pleonites 2, 3 epimera margins rounded, tapering in dorsal view. Pleotelson lateral margins almost parallel over anterior half, tapering from halfway; 0.8 times as long as wide; with obsolete medial longitudinal ridge, with submedian concavities over posterior third (appearing laterally pinched), with sublateral acute posteriorly-directed tubercles at about 0.6 of pleotelson length; apex truncate, tunnel-like (0.3 times as wide as pleotelson base), with double margin. Pleonite 1 sternite midventral keel overlapping and slotting into half of keel on pleonite 2; pleonite 2 keel just overlapping pleonite 3 keel; pleonite 3 with grooved keel as long as that on pleonite 2. Uropod attaching at 0.4 length of pleotelson lateral margin; endopod reaching almost to pleotelson apex, tapering to rounded apex; exopod three-quarters as long as endopod, apex truncate, crenellate.
