Taxonomic Remarks

The only species in the genus Lysidice recorded close to the Comoros Islands is Lysidice collaris Grube, 1868. Lysidice collaris is a cosmopolitan species recorded from South Africa, Mozambique, and Madagascar (type locality: Adriatic/Mediterranean/Red Sea).The Comorian Lysidice specimen differs from L. collaris by having (1) a single antenna rather than three, (2) an ovoid prostomium instead of a bilobed prostomium, and (3) longer dorsal cirri. No other species of this genus have been recorded near the Comoros.
