Dr Arias’ research focuses on molecular approaches and population genomics to understand how organisms adapt to different environments and what mechanism drives their biodiversity. Her expertise relies on genomic research of marine invertebrates, including sponges, corals and sea cucumbers. She has been actively performing population genomic and metabarcoding studies using complex bioinformatic analyses of large datasets of benthic specimens. Belén is the Ocean Census Science Manager for Species Discovery & Sequencing.
