Taxonomic Remarks
Until now, six species of the genus Gnosonesima have been described. Gnosonesima sp.1 is clearly distinguishable from all of them by the structure of its male copulatory organ, which consists of several spines, whereas in all other species the organ is a tubular stylet. In addition, Gnosonesima sp.1 possesses a pair of eyes, a feature otherwise known only in G. brattstroemi; however, the latter species bears two pairs of eyes.
