Taxonomic Remarks

The Comoros Archipelago in the Mozambique Channel has limited published records of sipunculids, and no specific species checklists are available from surveys. The material may represent Sipunculus (Austrosiphon) indicus or Sipunculus (Sipunculus) robustus, both of which have type localities in Madagascar. All other sipunculids reported from the area are cosmopolitan, increasing the likelihood that this material represents a species new to science.
