Taxonomic Remarks

The genus Euclymene has not previously been recorded from the Comoros Islands. Euclymene mossambica (Day, 1957) recorded from Mozambique (type locality: Mozambique), differs distinctly from the Comorian material. The Comorian specimen differs from E. mossambica in having a pointed prostomium rather than rounded in E. mossambica, absence of the 8–10 posterior crenulations on the cephalic plates present in E. mossambica, and a nuchal groove extending almost the full length of the prostomium, whereas in E. mossambica it extends approximately three-quarters of the prostomial length.
