A new species of Galathea (Decapoda, Galatheidae) from the seamounts of the Easter Island area (Southeast Pacific Ocean Ridge) associated with a sea urchin

A new squat lobster, Galathea tukitukimea, is described from seamounts near Rapa Nui, representing the first record of the genus in this region and Chilean territory. The species consistently associates with a sea urchin, suggesting rare mimicry-based behaviour.

Integrative taxonomy reveals a new species of the soapfish genus Rypticus (Teleostei: Grammistidae) from the eastern Atlantic Ocean

A new species of soapfish, Rypticus, is described from 14 specimens in the eastern Atlantic. Previously misidentified as R. saponaceus, it differs morphologically and is strongly supported as a distinct species by mitochondrial DNA analysis.

Two new species of Mayerella (Amphipoda: Caprellidae) from Northwestern Mexico, with a key to the species of the genus

Two new amphipod species, Mayerella gabinorodriguezi and M. candelariae, are described from shallow coastal sediments in Sinaloa, Mexico. Their discovery represents the first records of Mayerella from Mexico’s Pacific coast, highlighting overlooked biodiversity in highly anthropised ecosystems.

A new deep-sea crustacean family of Tanaidacea is established from Aotearoa New Zealand and Southeast Australia based principally on morphology

The authors establish a new deep-sea tanaidacean family, Arthruridae n. fam., separated from the family Tanaellidae Larsen and Wilson, 2002, and based on a morphology-based phylogenetic analysis. This new taxon is supported by molecular evidence from a recent study of the newly described Caudalongidae Błażewicz & Bird 2024

Three new nematode species (Chromadorida: Selachinematidae) from the continental slope of New Zealand

Three new species of selachinematid nematodes, Choanolaimus serieporus sp. nov., C. sparsiporus sp. nov. and Gammanema lunatum sp. nov., are described from the continental slope of New Zealand.
