Taxonomic Remarks

No species of this genus has ever been found in the East Pacific Ocean. This is the first record from the East Pacific Ocean and the first record from Chileans waters. The sclerites of the Materials are examined in a Scanning Electron Microscope. All sclerite features are different from those of species 1, species 2, and species 3 from the Maldives, those of any known species of the genus Imbricacis and the undescribed species in the museum collection, which were found during the Species Discovery Awards travel (2026).

Colony: Height 12.397cm, width 13.167 cm (Fig.1) Branch colour: greyish Shape of the colony: Uniplanar fan Branching patterns: Irregular, No Anastomoses Arrangement of polyps: three sides Polyps: Height: 0.85-1.72mm; Width: 1.17-1.73mm (Fig.2) Sclerites: different from sp.1, 2, 3, 4 and all known species. Colour of sclerites: Colourless

Distribution

Only known from the PuKao site in the Rapa Nui and Sala y Gomez Ridge, in the East Pacific Ocean. Depth 533.9 m.
